  24. I have the following weird problem, and im hoping that you can help
  25. me.

  27. Im working on a Linux machine (fedora core 7) and connect trough ssh
  28. or telnet to a server, on which ITX (=Wordperfect for Unix) runs. For
  29. some reason, i cannot use any of the WP shortcuts. I need shift-f7 -
  30. The printer menu - to test printers for users.. Now, the normal F1
  31. through F12 work fine, but not SHIFT / CTRL / ALT combos.

  33. My collegues, on windows, use K95. this is preconfigured a long time
  34. ago (the mappings etc).i dived into the conf files and see wether any
  35. special parameters where set. i coulndt find any, except termninal
  36. protocol is vt220 or kermit. on linux this should not be neccesary,
  37. since xterm already has the vt220 terminal "embedded".
  38. I've already tried installing Ckermit, and copy the windows .INI files
  39. (with the key mappings for Kermit) onto my machine(and edit them
  40. slighty), to no avail..I tried downloading premade mappings from
  41. http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ftp and place those in  my .kermrc
  42. file.

  45. Searching the newsgroups i found commands like " set terminal keyboard-
  46. mode wp" to set kermit in WP mode.. But Ckermit is not excepting
  47. this..
  48. That is to say, in those post people reffer to "pressing ctrl-x" to
  49. get in command mode, but that doenst do anything .
  50. I simply start kermit by typing kermit at the prompt, and then telnet
  51. or ssh <servername> at the C-Kermit prompt.. once logged on there, i
  52. start ITX.

  54. Somehow i have a strange feeling my xterm or (Gnome-term for that
  55. matter) simply does not send the shift-F7 keystroke to the remote
  56. machine...
  57. I've tried export TERM=vt220, in the idle hope that that might change
  58. anything, to no avail...
  59. I tried from a normal terminal (no x), with the same results..

  61. Since kermit is so well documented im starting to feel rather stupid
  62. at this stage.. Im no expert, but most of this is not new to me, so
  63. what im a doing wrong here?
  64. I just need this silly SHIFT-F7!
